The International Day of Forests was celebrated throughout the entire Mediterranean Network with several events which involved the communities and their territories. Here we present two of these events, the one organized in Morocco by the Ifrane Model Forest and the Greece one, in the territory of the Western Macedonia Model Forest.

On 19-21 March 2024 the Secretariat of the MMFN participated in the Second Technical Workshop of the Global Fire Management Hub organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in its headquarters in Rome, Italy.

Few weeks ago the Tuscany Region accepted with a resolution of the council to renew its role as leader of the Mediterranean Model Forest Network, as requested by the Canadian government.

The Istria Model Forest has published its long-awaited handbook "Forest Pedagogy - for children of the new age" with activities for parents, teachers and educators.

In the next 15 months, the Istria Model Forest will be the leading partner in the project "In the forest as in the classroom", which the Erasmus + Small Partnerships in School Education program decided to finance with 60,000 euros.

On December 20th 2023 the Valle dell’Aterno Model Forest had its annual event to celebrate the association results and achievements and present the ongoing and upcoming projects. It was a participating gathering where associates and stakeholders had the occasion to meet and discuss topics involving the management and care of their territory.

Few weeks ago, the IMFN Secretariat launches a new landing webpage for IMFN Climate initiative, announced a year ago on December 12, 2022 at COP15 in Montreal.

The Provence Model Forest launched the annual call for woodturners and designers who are passionate about expressing their talent and creativity through this noble material: the cork. The Quercus Suber Competition, which began at the end of 2016, is now at the 2024 edition, and it's an opportunity for amateurs and professionals alike to shine.

A second edition of the Festival of Forest and Forest Fruits was held in Model Forest Istria on the sunny Sunday of 19th November. After last year's edition the Festival was named a “Hit Festival” as it was visited by around 2000 visitors from all the Region of Istria and neighboring city of Rijeka.
