On April 18-19 the MMFN Secretariat, together with some of the Model Forest of the Network, participated at INNOVAForONE, the Final Event of the ONEforest project, organized by Cesefor Fundación in Valladolid. The team from Cesefor managed to organize an event that went far beyond the expectation, gathering forestry networks and European projects to discuss a key topic in our sector: innovation.
As MMFN we have the occasion to present our Network during the “EU Forestry Networking: state of the art” session, together with ERIAFF, the European Forest Institute - Bioregions Facility, Innovawood and FAO - Silva Mediterranea. The MMFN General Secretary, Toni Ventre, also participated in one of the round tables that closed the first day, discussing what we still need from innovation in forestry.
The second day had several parallel sessions: while a part of the team attended the presentation of the ONEforest results, others worked with the Model Forests gathered for the event to plan the activities of the next months in the frame of the International Model Forest Network Climate initiative.
We had two wonderful days in Valladolid and we go back not only with more knowledge about the “state of the art” of innovation in the EU Forestry Sector, but with contacts and relationships that will be fundamental in the next future for our work as Secretariat of the MMFN.
