8th Mediterranean Forest Week - Registration open on the new website

 ‍

The next edition of the Mediterranean Forest Week (MFW) will be held in Barcelona (Spain) from 4 to 8 November 2024, titled “Working together for sustainable and resilient Mediterranean forests. Towards a collaborative roadmap”.

 

As usual, during the week also the MedForum will take place, gathering all the Model Forests of the Mediterranean to present their achievements and discuss the way forward through the next year in the Network.

 

Registration to the conference is now open, join the Mediterranean Forest Week for insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and engaging activities.

COFO 27, WFW 2024, extraordinary session of Silva Mediterranea: a week full of events at FAO in Rome

 ‍

The 27th Session of the Committee on Forestry (COFO) will be held on 22-26 July 2024 at FAO headquarters, Rome, Italy in a hybrid format. The biennial sessions of COFO bring together high-level representatives, heads of forest services, government officials and partner organizations to identify emerging policy and technical guidance, seek solutions, and advise on future strategy and action.

COFO 27 will be held in conjunction with the 9th World Forest Week (WFW 2024) under the theme “Accelerating Forest Solutions through Innovation'', hosting even the Extraordinary Session of the Committee on Mediterranean Forestry Questions - Silva Mediterranea. The Session will official launch the Unasylva special issue on restoration in the Mediterranean region in which the MMFN Secretariat participated with a paper dedicated to the opportunity given by the Model Forest approach in involving rural communities to design restoration projects.

Youth focused survey on disaster risks and climate change

 ‍

UNICEF and the UNDRR have developed a survey to evaluate the understanding of children and youth on disaster risks and climate change, make recommendations to governments and policymakers, and present solutions to address disaster risks and climate change. The survey aims to showcase children's voices in developing the Children and Youth Declaration for the Road to Resilience.

 

It is available in 21 languages and includes 25 questions in three parts: Understanding Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Crisis; Recommendations to Governments and Policy Makers; Addressing Climate Crisis and Disaster Risks.
