8th Mediterranean Forest Week website now online!

 ‍

The Joint Organising Committee of the Mediterranean Forest Week (MFW) is pleased to announce the official website launch of the 8th Mediterranean Forest Week (8MFW).

8MFW will take place from November 4-8, 2024, at the magnificent Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site in Barcelona, Spain. This biennial event is a vital platform for researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders to foster dialogue and cooperation on the challenges and opportunities faced by Mediterranean forests.

A month full of events for the PACA Model Forest

 ‍

‍May 2024 was a month full of events for the Provence Model Forest.

Everything started with a double event in the weekend 4-5 of May, firstly as organisers at the Villa Noailles, with a record attendance (4800 people in one and a half days - exhibition on show until Sunday), and secondly as participants in the Saint-Tropez event highlighting local gastronomy and products.

Final Event for the ASMed project: from the Apennines to the Shouf

 ‍

On the 8th of June the territory of the Valle dell’Aterno Model Forest will host the final event of the project ASMed - From the Apennines to the Shouf: migrations of experiences and knowledge across the Mediterranean.

The project was funded by the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development and worked on exchange actions between Italy and Lebanon with purposes of best practices replication. One of the main actions is also promoting the path to create the first Model Forest in Lebanon right in Shouf.

Tlemcen Model Forest continues its actions for vulture conservation and monitoring

 ‍

On 20 and 21 May 2024 the Tlemcen Model Forest organized a training on how to reduce collisions of birds and disturbances on electricity networks and on programmes for monitoring birds of prey populations.

The activities is part of the partnership between the Tlemcen National Park, the Tlemcen Model Forest Association (AFMT) and the UNDP/Algeria, through the Global Environment Facility (GEF) small grants programme, for the project “Contribution to the knowledge and conservation of the Egyptian vulture population in the Tlemcen region”.
