The IMFN finds its way into the Italy–Canada Roadmap for Enhanced Cooperation

 ‍

Last week Italy hosted the G7 Summit where on June 15 the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni.

 

The two leaders highlighted the strong and growing relationship between Canada and Italy, and officially launched the Italy-Canada Roadmap for Enhanced Cooperation. The Roadmap sets out ambitious, concrete plans to collaborate over the next three to five years in shared priority areas ranging from energy security, climate change, and biodiversity to migration, sustainable economic growth, and research and innovation. In the Roadmap, when talking about Climate Change, Biodiversity, and Pollution, the role of the International Model Forest Network was also cited.

From the ASMed final event two important steps forward the establishment of the first Model Forest in Lebanon

On the 8th of June the territory of the Valle dell’Aterno Model Forest hosted the final event of the project ASMed - From the Apennines to the Shouf: migrations of experiences and knowledge across the Mediterranean.

The event took place in Fontecchio, one of the municipalities of the Valle dell’Aterno MF, where there was also a ceremony of signing the official twinning between the Al-Shouf Cedar Society, the Valle dell’Aterno MF and the Sirente Velino Regional Natural Park and the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the Secretariat of the Mediterranean Model Forest Network and the Al-Shouf Cedar Society that, after the formal request to enter the IMFN, represents another step forward on the path to establish the first Model Forest in Lebanon.

The MMFN in Finland for the ERIAFF 10th Annual Conference

 ‍

From 11th to 13th of June the Secretariat of the MMFN took part in the ERIAFF 10th Annual Conference 2024 in Seinäjoki (Finland).

This year's theme, Regions as Changemakers for European Resilience and Sustainability, encourages the participants to discuss the role of regions in building up a more resilient and sustainable European Agri-Food and Forestry Systems. In the aftermath of European Parliamentary Elections it was also the occasion to discuss the current and future developments of the agri-food and forestry sector.
