The MedForum 2019, entitled “Forest-based solutions: Model Forest impacts in the Mediterranean and beyond”, taking place between April 1st and 3rd, 2019, in Brummana (Lebanon), in the framework of the 6th Mediterranean Forest Week.
The Organiser of this event was Cesefor, with support from the IMFN Secretariat and the Mediterranean Forest Week’s Organising Committee. Tuscany Region and Castile and León Region was act as advisors in the MedForum organizing Committee.
The MedForum was consist of technical sessions, the MMFN General Assembly and a all-day field trips to Lebanon’s first nature reserve Horch Ehden.
The topics covered during the technical sessions were:
- Sharing of experiences, innovation and best-practices for accelerated learning and sustainable landscape management
- “Business to Business”
The goals of the event was:
- Review the Model Forest Associations’ current status and share recent good practices, innovations and experiences as a way of supporting sustainable forest management in the Mediterranean and larger European continent
- Stimulate discussion and develop policy recommendations on effective implementation of forest-based solutions to assist countries in implementing their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement
- Draw together Model Forest representatives and supporters from across the Mediterranean and Europe to catalyse opportunities for networking, private sector, bilateral and multilateral collaboration.
To facilitate understanding of all participants, all sessions was take place in English.
