Canada to host the next IMFN Global Forum in May 2025

 ‍

The International Model Forest Network (IMFN) will be hosting a Global Forum based in Kemptville, in the Eastern Ontario Model Forest in Canada, from May 26-30th, 2025 and will attract up to 200 delegates representing over 60 Model Forests from around the world.

The IMFN Global Forum is a business, technical, and networking meeting in which members share knowledge, review their accomplishments, address challenges, and agree on Network‐wide and other strategic plans and initiatives for the three‐year period following the Global Forum.

Western Macedonia Model Forest at the 2nd Mental Health Festival

 ‍

Few weeks ago, Western Macedonia Model Forest participated in the 2nd Mental Health Festival "Let's Get Together" in Kozani, organized by the Municipality of Kozani and E.P.Y.K.A. The event aimed to connect citizens, particularly the youth, with mental health services and agencies.

 

Western Macedonia Model Forest presented its cutting-edge environmental tools and the 'Joelette'-a special wheelchair designed for mountain trails. This marked the second appearance of the Joelette, following its official debut at the FORESTIVAL in early September. The initiative highlights the importance of inclusivity in nature, offering access to outdoor activities for individuals with mobility challenges.

FAO Special Unasylva Issue on Mediterranean Forest Restoration

 ‍

The FAO has published a special edition of its Unasylva journal, focused on the restoration of Mediterranean forests increasingly affected by climate change and human activity. Unasylva 255 features 13 expert articles discussing progress, challenges, and approaches in ecosystem restoration across the region.


A highlighted article discusses the Mediterranean Model Forest Network's role in engaging rural communities in restoration, showcasing case studies from Italy and Algeria. The edition underscores the importance of regional collaboration for sustainable restoration efforts.

EFI Young Leadership Programme Mediterranean 2025

 ‍

Applications for the EFI Young Leadership Programme Mediterranean 2025 (YLP-MED) are now open! The programme offers an opportunity for emerging leaders to address key sustainability challenges in the Mediterranean region. Participants will engage in hands-on activities, fieldwork, and networking with experts in environmental governance, climate change, and sustainable development.


The event will take place in March 2025. Apply before the deadline of 30th November 2024 for a chance to participate.
