MedForum 2024 - The MMFN vision at the 8th Mediterranean Forest Week

 ‍

The upcoming Mediterranean Forest Week (MFW) is set to take place in Barcelona, Spain, from November 4-8, 2024. This year's theme, “Working Together for Sustainable and Resilient Mediterranean Forests: Towards a Collaborative Roadmap”, promises to bring together experts and stakeholders to shape the future of the region's forests.

As part of the event, the 9th edition of the MedForum will also be held. This side event will gather all the Model Forests of the Mediterranean, providing a platform to shape the Mediterranean Model Forest Network’s (MMFN) role and vision in addressing the MFW's key themes.

To enrich the discussions with a global perspective, we’re pleased to announce that Jaroslaw Bator, representing the Northern European Model Forests Regional Network, and Patrick Wylie, Senior Policy Analyst from the International Model Forest Network Secretariat, Government of Canada, will be sharing their valuable insights.

Mark your calendars and join us in contributing to the future of Mediterranean forests!

1st FORESTIVAL Celebrates Forest Heritage with Successful Event in Western Macedonia

 ‍

The inaugural "FORESTIVAL," hosted by the Western Macedonia Model Forest on August 31st and September 1st, was a massive success, drawing visitors from across Greece to celebrate the forest's rich biodiversity. With engaging activities, local products like mushrooms and forest honey, and unique forest-inspired flavors, the festival highlighted the importance of forests in the region.

From hands-on games for kids to tree climbing and even listening to the sounds of plants, FORESTIVAL offered something for everyone. Attendees seeking relaxation enjoyed forest therapy, mindfulness meditation, and forest bathing. The event closed with an art and rock concert, capping off a day of adventure and discovery.

A standout moment was the debut of the Joelette, a special wheelchair for mountain trails, emphasizing accessibility and inclusion.
