Ifrane Model Forest represents the Network at the Workshop on Integrated Fire Management in Rabat |

The Ifrane Model Forest represented the Mediterranean Model Forest Network at the Workshop on Integrated Fire Management in Rabat from February 12 to 15, 2025. Organized by Silva Mediterranea, FAO RNE, and Morocco’s National Agency of Water and Forestry, the event aimed to strengthen regional collaboration on fire management and post-fire restoration. As part of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, discussions focused on the NENFIRE Five-Year Roadmap and best practices for restoring fire-affected areas. Abdelkrim Marzouk, president of the Ifrane Model Forest, engaged with the International Global Fire Hub to emphasize the importance of international cooperation in addressing wildland fires. The workshop also included field visits to Tangier province and Rabat’s National Center of ANEF for Fire Detection and Response.

Webinar | Women and Landscape Governance: Progress and Challenges in LAC |

In the frame of the International Women’s Day, the Latin American Model Forest Network is hosting the webinar “Women and Landscape Governance: Progress and Challenges in LAC”, a learning space on gender equity in forest conservation and restoration in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The event will be online on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (GMT -5, so 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. CET). Simultaneous translation will be available in Portuguese and English.
Here some of the key topics: - Gender approach in the Latin American Model Forest Network
- Mayan identity, women, and territorial governance in Guatemala
- Redefining the concept of youth with a gender perspective in the Amazon
- Urban and rural implications for women's inclusion in governance in the Andes
The webinar is organized together with Initiative 20x20 and WRI Colombia, with the support of the Government of Canada and the Project FLR Hub. |
