The Celebration of Rural Heritage, Forest Products, and Values at the Forest Festival in Istria Model Forest

 ‍

The popular third edition of the Festival of Forest and Forest Products was held on Sunday, November 17th, in the Istria Model Forest territories. Jointly organized by the Istria Model Forest and the Municipality of Lanišće, with funding from the Mediterranean Model Forest Network Secretariat, the festival took place in the remote mountain village of Brest, under Zbevnica Mountain in Cicarija.

Valle dell’Aterno Model Forest advances community engagement and sustainable forestry projects

The Valle dell’Aterno Model Forest is actively promoting sustainability through key initiatives. A recent study by the University of L’Aquila examines how residents value forests, fostering dialogue through public events.

 

The STAI Project, funded by ActionAid, strengthens rural communities by enhancing traditional practices in agriculture and forestry. Meanwhile, a monumental trees census engages locals in preserving the valley’s natural and cultural heritage.

Poplar Management Workshop Enhanced Sustainable Forestry Efforts in Palencia

On Wednesday, November 27, 2024, the town of La Serna in Palencia hosted a training workshop titled "The Forest Resources of Palencia Model Forest: Management of Poplar Plantations as an Income-Generating Alternative in Rural Areas".

 

The event brought together a diverse audience, including public and private forestry owners, forestry companies, and representatives from public administration, with the aim of promoting sustainable practices and unlocking the economic potential of poplar plantations in the region.
